Zlatan Ibrahimovic thinks Antonio Conte is the best candidate to succeed Stefano Pioli, while Thiago Motta of Bologna has Milan more sold.
Given the team’s lack of development this season—the team crashed out of the Champions League in the group stage and lagged behind in the fight for the league title—Pioli is most likely to be fired by the Rossoneri in the summer.
Even though Pioli led Milan to the Scudetto two years ago, many Milan supporters feel that his time in the dugout should end. However, no definitive decision has been made as of yet. Whether a Europa League championship could turn things around for the Italian coach is still to be seen.
Thiago Motta is one of Milan’s top choices to succeed Pioli, should he leave the team in the summer, according to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com.
After months of watching the Italian-Brazilian coach’s work at Bologna, the Rossoneri have grown to respect his man-management abilities, his ability to develop young players, and his offensive yet balanced playing style.
Though former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues to advocate for Conte, wanting the former Chelsea and Italy coach in the dugout, Thiago Motta is gradually persuading Milan that he’s the guy for the job.
