Everton: Following their loss to Crystal Palace, Michael Ball destroys Sean Dyche, receiving a “brain-dead” verdict.
Michael Ball has criticized Everton manager Sean Dyche and his team for making “brain-dead decision-making” after their loss to Crystal Palace.
After a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park on Monday, February 19, the Toffees were able to escape the relegation zone; nonetheless, Dyche’s team was heavily criticized by both fans and analysts for their lackluster play.
While off-the-field concerns have dominated Toffees talk this season, BBC Sport commentator Ball is furious with Everton’s subpar home results and believes Dyche’s time to turn things around at Goodison is running out.
He wrote the following on Tuesday, February 20, for the Liverpool Echo: “I feel bad to say it, but some people made some really bad decisions. We’re trying to win the game; what are you doing, taking a minute to throw in?
“It’s a poor statistic—as of March 1, we have only three Premier League victories at Goodison this season. That demonstrates that the players’ and Dyche’s efforts are failing, whatever they may be trying. You can lament lost chances and bad luck all you want, but for how long can you keep making excuses like that?
However, playing Ashley Young on the right wing was a bad setup. It makes sense to use him there away to Manchester City, therefore I’m cool with it, but at home against Palace?”
Will Sean Dyche’s Everton be demoted this season?
Everton’s match against Palace on Monday presented the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways because the Eagles had been struggling recently and their new manager was compelled to watch from the stands.
However, the Toffees never seemed to be at ease during the match; they frequently just threw the ball up to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and hoped for a stick, which didn’t happen too often.
Amadou Onana’s late header saved the day for the Toffees, even though Dyche’s squad appeared to be coasting towards relegation and making little attempt to stop it.
With only a few games remaining in their season, Everton must start winning more games—especially at Goodison Park—if they hope to make the Premier League the following season.
In other Everton news, Phil Jagielka is baffled by Manchester City’s FFP advancement due to the Toffees’ accusations.
