Celtic icon slams one player for costly error as Neil Warnock is trolled as ‘diehard’ Rangers fan.

Following Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock, John Hartson singled out one player for criticism.

Rangers have recovered from a seven-point deficit to lead the Scottish Premiership table for the first time this season.

Since Philippe Clement took over from Michael Beale in mid-October, the Gers have been in excellent form. Previously, they were far behind their city rivals Celtic and appeared to be out of the title fight after only seven games.

However, the trend has shifted in Rangers’ favor, and although Clement’s team has been constantly winning, the reigning champions have struggled. Two expensive defeats in December opened the door for the Rangers, and successive draws against Aberdeen and Kilmarnock this month have allowed the Gears to take the lead.

Celtic’s most recent 1-1 tie with Kilmarnock enraged fans at Parkhead. The Hoops took the lead after 32 minutes and appeared to be in control until David Watson’s late goal hushed the home crowd.

Club icon John Hartson was enraged by one player’s role in the goal and called him out for criticism in a live video outburst.

He spoke on the Go Football Radio Show: “They should never concede that equalizer to Kilmarnock.” It’s a long ball hoofed in the middle, and they lose the header.

“The ball is then passed to the player on the left side. He puts it in, and [Alexandro] Bernabei is a disgrace. He does not even challenge Watson for the goal. If you’re left in such situation at the last minute, you’re giving your all to prevent a goal.

“This could lose Celtic their title. It does not convey sufficient meaning. It has to matter more. As a defender, you must defend your goal at all costs.

“It must be quite upsetting for you. You must be really annoyed by this. And I saw Brendan just talking calmly.

“I don’t know Brendan might be having a pop at the players in the dressing room but that equaliser should never have been conceded.”

Since taking over at Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen manager Neil Warnock has frequently mentioned Rangers. The veteran manager has always wanted to work in Scottish football and has previously stated that he has had a soft spot for Rangers.

In his first interview after joining the Dons, he stated, “I love Rangers and am a Rangers fan down here, only because Ally McCoist, Rangers, and me against Alan Brazil, who’s mad Celtic.” I remember going to Celtic when Gordon Strachan was there, and he invited me into the office. It was a terrific day.

“The passion of Celtic and Rangers supporters. But I’ve always had the same feelings about the Edinburgh clubs; Nick Montgomery, one of my former players, is now managing Hibernian, so I hope they do well.”

Former Rangers defender Andy Halliday and Celtic academy graduate Si Ferry have acknowledged to having a chuckle at Warnock’s news briefings, owing to Aberdeen’s long-standing rivalry with the Gers.

Halliday revealed on the Open Goal podcast that Warnock is a huge fan of the Rangers. All he talks about is Rangers! He mentions the Dunoon True Blues and plans to attend the games. He absolutely likes the Rangers.”

Ferry continued: “I couldn’t believe he said that! “A couple of my mates will be at the game, True Blues… you’re the Aberdeen manager!”
