After Sunderland parted ways with Michael Beale yesterday, some surprising claims have emerged on social media.
Yesterday marked the end of Sunderland’s and Beale’s relationship after just a few months.
The 43-year-old was brought in as an unpopular substitute for the wildly popular Tony Mowbray, who handed Beale his final defeat at the weekend as Birmingham City won 2-1.
Beale lost the FA Cup final 3-0 at home to Newcastle United, but he did win four of his twelve games in command.
His time in office will be remembered for all the wrong reasons; among his greatest moments were his remarks made during news conferences and his botched handshake with Trai Hume.
Furthermore, rumours on social media suggest that Beale was using his former Twitter account, X, as a “burner” to sustain himself while he was at the Stadium of Light.
Michael Beale ‘burner’ account comes to light
An account on X has been endorsing Beale for the past week or two. One of the posts has an angle of the Hume handshake, implying that Beale missed the Sunderland player as he left the pitch.
In addition to sharing tweets from supporters of other teams advocating for Sunderland to retain Beale in leadership, the now-deleted account also featured pro-Beale Tweets from his time at Rangers.
The account was called Player ID, and it has been connected to both Beale’s LinkedIn profile and a previous podcast he produced with the same name. Additionally, an earlier post on X implies that Beale is the person behind Player ID.
Sunderland tenure one to forget for Beale
Beale has now held three managerial positions: Sunderland, Rangers, and QPR. All three have been forgettable experiences.
And it appears that all three are beginning to share a common theme: Beale says and does things that irritate people.
Beale may be an excellent coach, but he also seems to have a bad temper. This new rumour regarding a purported burner account on social media seems to support the notion that Beale is unable to handle criticism and must constantly defend himself.
We may never find out for sure, but we don’t know if Beale is the one behind the account. However, Beale and Sunderland have already broken up and will both quickly move on.
Dodds is a reliable leader for Sunderland, and he will be driven to win this weekend’s match against Swansea City in order to restart the Black Cats’ campaign.
With only four points separating them from the top six, Sunderland’s present position in 10th place makes a play-off finish quite likely.
