Latest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive as ex-Reds manager Steve Cooper is linked with replacing Michael Beale at Sunderland
In light of links with Sunderland, former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has not yet secured a new position, which has “shocked” Darren Bent.
The Black Cats fired Michael Beale on Monday and are now searching for a new manager. Nuno Espirito Santo succeeded Cooper at the City Ground in December, and Cooper has since been associated with leading the Stadium of Light.
And on talkSPORT on Tuesday, Bent discussed the Sunderland position, saying, “It’s a big gig.” That’s a really large job.I am surprised by Steve Cooper’s potential and the fact that he does not now have a job.
“I did think that Steve Cooper would maybe get a Premier League job because I think he is that good.”
Oliver Glasner has been appointed by the Eagles, replacing Cooper, who was formerly associated with succeeding Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace.
Mike Dodds has been named Sunderland’s temporary head coach for the end of the current campaign. Kristjaan Speakman, their sporting director, expressed disappointment over Michael’s departure from Sunderland AFC. Since it hasn’t been obvious that we want to improve, we accept full responsibility and believe that taking decisive action is in the best interests of the Club.
Michael goes with our best wishes for the future; these have been a trying few months for him. In order to guarantee that we finish as high in the league as possible, our attention is now on the players and helping Mike Dodds in the remaining games. We will keep our supporters informed when new information becomes available.
