‘Slap in the face’ – Pundit admits mistake amid Celtic twist, drops Rangers title verdict

‘Slap in the face’ – Pundit admits mistake amid Celtic twist, drops Rangers title verdict.

Barry Ferguson acknowledges he was mistaken when he predicted Celtic and Rangers would win every game until April 7.

Both teams were tied on points heading into the weekend, but the Gers easily defeated St Johnstone away from home, while the Hoops lost to Kilmarnock.

With that twist, Gers took the lead in the SPFL title battle for the first time this season.

According to the Daily Record, Ferguson stated on Go Radio’s Football Show: “You don’t want to get carried away and get slapped in the face.”

“Enjoy it.” Enjoy it on the way back, but put your blinkers on. Hearts will arrive, and Steven Naismith will fancy his chances at Ibrox. They should maintain their feet on the ground.

“I predicted last week that Rangers and Celtic would win all games until April 7.” How mistaken was I? Celtic lose a few points, but Rangers face a difficult challenge in Kilmarnock.

“That will be a tough one for the Rangers, but they look to be in a different place right now. Most importantly, they do not get carried away. They’ve gotten there, but there’s still work to do.”

Rangers can’t let Celtic get back in the driving seat now.

With Rangers now leading the Premiership by two points, there is tangible confidence among fans.

Ferguson’s cautionary words, on the other hand, remind everyone that complacency may be costly, and that the league is not won in February, with three months remaining.

Despite recent triumphs, particularly a pivotal victory against St Johnstone, the title fight is far from finished.

Philippe Clement’s leadership has clearly revitalized the club, but they must stay focused and resilient in the face of future adversity.

Tough games against Hearts and Kilmarnock lurk on the future, and any mistakes might jeopardize their lead and offer Celtic a chance to reclaim the summit.

The title race is uncertain, therefore nothing can be taken for granted.

Each game is a test of character and drive, and Rangers must approach it with the same intensity and dedication that has propelled them to the top.
