Rangers star heading for seven figure transfer as European club ready their move for ‘fantastic asset’
Following a summer transfer last year, the forward could be on his way out of Rangers for good.
Rangers may release Sam Lammers permanently this summer.
The Dutch forward joined the club last summer for around £3.5 million from Italian club Atalanta. However, he only made 31 appearances for Rangers before being loaned to Utrecht.
He was one of former manager Michael Beale’s summer acquisitions, but fell out of favor with the arrival of Philippe Clement. He has impressed with some of his Eredivisie outings since returning to his country.
Lammers scored twice with two assists for Rangers and has one goal and three assists in six games for Utrecht. FC Twente may offer £2.5 million for the 26-year-old player, according to reports in the Netherlands.
They wanted him last year before he moved to the Rangers. That bid was failed, but they could return to the table following his improved form. His loan at Utrecht does not have a buy option, and FC Twente is in a much stronger financial position to undertake a seven-figure deal.
Former NAC Breda star and Dutch TV analyst Kees Luijckx recently hailed Lammers, saying he has been a breath of new air since returning home. He stated, “Sam Lammers is extremely vital to the squad.
“Not only for his goals, but also for Utrecht’s football philosophy. Lammers is just an excellent addition to Utrecht.”
