Raiders appointing Joe Philbin, a former NFL head coach, as an assistant

Philbin will serve as a senior offensive assistant coach, per NFL Media. In his first full season as an NFL head coach, he will work for Pierce with former Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis. According to reports, Pierce will also receive advice from Tom Coughlin, his former coach with the New York Giants, just as he did during Pierce’s tenure as the Raiders’ temporary head coach until the end of the 2023 campaign.

From 2012 until 2015, Philbin led the Miami Dolphins as head coach. In addition, he served as the Green Bay Packers’ temporary head coach through the end of the 2018 campaign.

Following the 2022 season, Philbin was let go as the offensive line coach for the Dallas Cowboys. He has coached in the NFL for 19 seasons. In 2023, he worked for Ohio State as an offensive analyst.

Philbin is associated with the Raiders. In 2018, he was in Green Bay with wide receiver coach Edgar Bennett, defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, and standout wide receiver Davante Adams. Luke Getsy, the new offensive coordinator for Las Vegas, did not work with him while he was in Green Bay.
