Packers hire strength and conditioning coach from 49ers

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin: Aaron Hill was hired by Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur to serve as the team’s strength and conditioning coach, marking the final significant addition to his coaching staff this offseason.

Hill joined the 49ers alongside head strength and conditioning coach Dustin Perry and has played for the team for the last five seasons.

The 49ers added running back Christian McCaffrey, who has a history of injuries, around the 2022 trade deadline. McCaffrey participated in three games with Carolina in 2020 and seven games with them in 2021. He participated in 16 out of 17 games with the 49ers in 2023 and won the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year award after setting league records for 1,459 running yards, 2,023 total yards, 339 total touches, and 21 total touchdowns.

Not to be forgotten is that in his four seasons with the 49ers, All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams has missed nine games. He missed fifteen games throughout his last four years with Washington due to injury.

From 2009 to 2013, Hill recorded 192 tackles, five forced fumbles, and four interceptions while playing as a walk-on linebacker for the University of Minnesota. In 2014, he was an undrafted rookie who battled for a job with the St. Louis Rams.

In 2013, Hill declared, “I’m a positive guy.” “I’m really energised. That, in my opinion, is one item that is crucial and significant, particularly throughout the season.

Packers hiring 49ers' Aaron Hill as new strength and conditioning coach

In the same piece, Eric Klein, the strength and conditioning coach for the Gophers at the time, stated, “He’s a natural leader.” It is never coerced. It flows from him effortlessly, and it’s amazing to see. Guys seem to feed off of his strong sense of self-awareness, in my opinion.

He began his career as a strength and conditioning intern at Minnesota in 2014 and 2015, and then as an intern with the Carolina Panthers in 2015. He received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, sport, and exercise science in 2013 and his master’s degree in applied kinesiology-sport and exercise science in 2014. He worked as Vanderbilt’s assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2015 to 2018.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan hired him in 2019.

Chris Gizzi will be replaced by Hill. A former linebacker for the Packers, he served as LaFleur’s assistant coach of strength and conditioning from 2014 to 2018, at which point he was elevated to the position of lead coach in 2019.

This season’s injuries did not completely ruin the Packers. They were actually fairly healthy in a few important areas. The five-man defensive line didn’t miss a single game, and the offensive line began the final 13 regular-season games with each other. But hamstring injuries ended the seasons of cornerback Eric Stokes and receiver Christian Watson.

On February 1, general manager Brian Gutekunst stated, “I do want to say Chris Gizzi’s an outstanding strength coach and couldn’t have more respect for him.” “I believe that occasionally a different voice is necessary. Yes, that is a significant portion of our procedure. The influence those guys have on our players is significant, and it is crucial that our players support what we are doing here.
