Ibrox View: Rangers star confirms legendary status after ‘incredible’ feat v St Johnstone.

Rangers have had some difficult times in recent years, but their hard work has resulted in the Ibrox club returning to the top of the table.

With a 3-0 win over St Johnstone on Sunday (18 February), the Gers now lead the Scottish Premiership by two points above rivals Celtic.

Captain magnificent James Tavernier was a major player in both the long-running war and the victory over the Saints.

The right-back has been with the club through thick and thin, and he underlined his worth again on Sunday with a double in Perth.

Both goals came late from the penalty spot, after recent signing Mohamed Diomande scored the opener.

It was a fantastic moment from the January arrival, but Tavernier gets the majority of the credit, with the defender currently on 120 Rangers goals.

Rangers star Tavernier joins Ibrox legends.

The skipper now ranks third in goals scored for the Ibrox team this century, after only Kris Boyd (138) and Alfredo Morelos (124), with Squawka calling the performance “incredible.”

Admittedly, a substantial number of those goals have come from the penalty spot, but Tavernier must still take those kicks, many of which are critical.

Over the years, the full-back has taken a number of free kicks and scored numerous goals from open play.

He has played an important role in getting Rangers back to their best, but the hard work has only just begun, with Celtic sure to want their top spot back as quickly as possible.
