Everton namechecked as Premier League call last-gasp ’emergency meeting’ – report.

The Premier League has summoned an emergency meeting with Everton and the other 19 clubs to finalize a financial deal with the EFL, according to Sky News.

Mark Kleinman’s report was uploaded on their website, and Everton was one of the clubs alerted about the meeting, which was attended by everybody.

It is indicated later in the report that at least one team in the bottom half is said to have considered borrowing money to meet their portion of the giveaway, which could explain why Everton was mentioned earlier.

Everton are asked to an emergency Premier League meeting.

The arrangement in question is expected to cost Premier League clubs between £837 million and £925 million in increased money for Football League clubs over the next six years.

An emergency conference was scheduled to finalize the transaction before the proposed independent regulator is constituted by government legislation, which has been a source of controversy recently.

Everton’s financial plight has been well-documented, with breaches of Premier League profit and sustainability criteria this season, suggesting they may need to borrow.

Given Goodison Park’s current enormous debt, borrowing more money to make EFL payments would be bad for the club’s long-term finances.
