ESPN names Falcons free agent fit for Patriots EDGE

The quarterback position will be the main focus of the Falcons offseason, but there are other requirements that must also be met. Apart from the signal caller position, EDGE and wide receiver are the two most critical.

Drake London requires a few running companions. If Zac Robinson exhibits the same tendencies as Sean McVay, the Falcons will use a lot more players than they did under Arthur Smith (12 players). In essence, receivers will be given more attention than tight ends.

The Falcons’ weak point has always been EDGE. Since John Abraham, the team hasn’t had a dependable double-digit sack pass rusher. Although we all hope Arnold Ebiketie becomes one of those players, in the modern NFL, a team can never have too many pass rushers.

Thus, it makes sense that Josh Uche, a defender for the Patriots who is rated as the 47th free agent in the upcoming class by ESPN, was identified by the Flacons as a free agency fit. Uche is 25 years old.

47. Josh Uche, EDGE

Best team fit: Atlanta Falcons

With Uche, who recorded 18.5 sacks over four seasons with the Patriots, including a career-high 11.5 in 2022, Morris may find his sub-package pass-rusher here. He can close on the quarterback and is quick off the ball. Additionally, Uche may plan tricks to loop inside Morris’ system.

The Falcons would be crazy to pass up on at least one of the few EDGE defenders that will be available in free agency, including Uche. If the Falcons decide to pursue free agency, they may target a quarterback, a few pass catchers, and other players because Uche shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg like the top pass rushers, Danielle Hunter, Josh Allen, and Brian Burns.
