League leaders ‘aren’t a decent team,’ says Celtic legend Frank McAvennie in a jab at the Rangers.

Frank McAvennie says Rangers aren’t a decent squad and maintains Celtic can still win the league.

The struggling Hoops are no longer leading the league after Philippe Clement’s team erased a seven-point deficit to go two points ahead over the weekend. Since assuming leadership at Ibrox, Clement has only lost one game overall, and his team is aiming for the renowned Treble, having already won the Viaplay Cup.

Under Brendan Rodgers, the Celtics are regressing around the city after struggling with consistency the whole season. The supporters were furious with the defending champions this past weekend as Kilmarnock grabbed a well-earned draw in the final minutes at Parkhead. The team has looked particularly weak in recent months.

Concerns have been raised by Celtic’s poor play, as more and more supporters are starting to lose hope in Rodgers. Nevertheless, Macca remains optimistic that his team, which he loves, may make a change before the season ends.

“Rangers will be favourites because of the bookies,” he said to PLZ Soccer. However, let’s face it—the Rangers are not a good team and are not in good form. They are winning games, though.

“Clement’s has made things easy. They’re succeeding, making do with leftovers, and achieving victories and outcomes. Celtic no longer engages in that activity. I believe there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Since we’re approaching a big month, I hope they can turn things around.”

Regardless of what transpires in the next twelve league games, Macca feels that a significant purge is necessary at Celtic Park after accusing the team of hoarding subpar players. He added, “It was AWFUL – it was a bad watch,” in response to the tie with Killie over the weekend.

“I believe the majority of Celtic players and supporters would both acknowledge that. It’s been a few weeks, so it’s not even an awful day at work.

“We’ve experienced a few injuries—Reo Hatate, Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Alistair Johnston come to mind. The team shouldn’t play that poorly because of three players. However, it’s clear that the new guys aren’t talented enough. Or they haven’t gotten off to a fast start.

“Who knows, maybe they could pass? We still have time to make a difference, in my opinion. That being said, I don’t think such performances will win over the manager or the supporters. You can assign blame to the manager, the board, or any other entity.

“In my opinion, though, the players simply aren’t talented enough. Kilmarnock’s players on that field were not afraid of Celtic. When people first arrived at Celtic Park, they were afraid to come play. However, they are no longer. Regretfully, these are merely mediocre players.
