Although he won’t be leading Crystal Palace against Everton on Monday night, Roy Hodgson is still the team’s manager.
Monday night’s Premier League away match between Crystal Palace and Everton does not include Roy Hodgson in the dugout.
Hodgson is still in command of Crystal Palace even though rumours about his future at Selhurst Park are still circulating, with Austrian manager Oliver Glasner being expected to unseat the Englishman before the end of the season.
However, why is Hodgson not in the dugout for Goodison Park’s Everton vs. Crystal Palace match?Below, FourFourTwo explains the rationale.
Why isn’t Roy Hodgson in the dugout for Crystal Palace vs Everton?
Hodgson was brought to the hospital after becoming unwell during a training session at Crystal Palace on Thursday. Following the cancellation of his pre-game press conference for Monday’s game, the team issued a statement providing an update on the 76-year-old.
“Following news that Roy Hodgson was taken ill during today’s training session,” a Crystal Palace statement read, “we can confirm that he is now stable and is currently undergoing tests in hospital.
“Everybody at the club sends their best wishes to Roy for a speedy recovery.”
However, despite the club’s claims that Hodgson is “feeling better now,” according to the Daily Mail, he is still being monitored in the hospital and will not be monitoring the Goodison Park touchline.
Instead, Crystal Palace’s reliable assistant manager Ray Lewington will be in charge of the team as they attempt to avoid relegation with a victory at Everton.home.
Crystal Palace has only accrued 24 points from 24 games, placing them 16th in the Premier League right now. With a victory, Everton, on the other hand, may leave the relegation zone and get within two points of the Eagles, making Palace’s situation even more vulnerable.
