New Orleans Saints, Verizon partner to host ‘Truth be Told: From the Stacks to the Streets’ exhibition and community discussion.
The Amistad Research Center and the New Orleans Saints are pleased to announce that they will be co-hosting the first-ever traveling exhibition, “Truth Be Told: From the Stacks to the Streets,” in addition to a lively community conversation and podcast session centered around Black history, sports, and civil rights. The Baldwin & Co. Bookstore will host the event on February 23, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
The exhibition and conversation will highlight the importance of the Amistad Research Center and its vast collection, explore the historical intersections of sports and civil rights, and elevate the voices and narratives of Black people. Tyrann Mathieu, a special guest, will attend the event and provide his distinct viewpoint and experiences to the conversation.
“We are ecstatic to collaborate with the Amistad Research Center and Verizon to realize this significant exhibition and community conversation,” stated Dr. Darvelle Hutchins, the New Orleans Saints’ vice president of equity and social impact. “This event not only celebrates Black history and the intersection of sports and civil rights but also underscores our collective commitment to fostering meaningful dialogue and promoting social change.”
About 150 people are anticipated to attend the event, including members of the community, students, executives from Verizon and the New Orleans Saints, as well as other VIP visitors.
