The Stars seized a 3-2 lead with 9:16 left in the third. Following a Brad Marchand turnover, Lindell rushed all the way up the ice and slid a wrist shot from the right circle past Swayman.

After Boston scored on its second shot, Dallas tied the game at 11:14 with a deflection by Johnston. Thomas Harley scored a tip-in goal from the top of the right circle.

Suter gave Dallas its first lead at 1:04 in the middle frame, beating Swayman cleanly with a shot from the top of the left circle off a Roope Hintz faceoff victory.
