Hugh Keevins speculates Philippe Clement exit problem, Rangers departure to ‘bigger club’ mooted

Rangers: ‘Bigger club’ wants Belgian manager Philippe Clement, but there’s an exit dilemma at Ibrox.

Hugh Keevins claims that given Philippe Clement’s accomplishments at Ibrox thus far, Rangers run the risk of losing him to “a bigger club.”

After taking over at Ibrox four months ago in place of Michael Beale, former Monaco and Rangers manager Clement has performed admirably.

Naturally, supporters of the Gers will hope that Clement stays for many years to come, but Keevins is unsure given what transpired at rival Celtic.

He stated in his Daily Record column on February 18 that “you can get on with your work when you’re not afflicted with a preoccupation with external noise.”

The main issue Rangers face is that, similar to Ange [Postecoglou] at Celtic, their prominence will eventually draw the attention of a larger team.

Philippe Clement under contract at Ibrox until 2027

Though it may be difficult to recall today, before Clement was hired, Rangers supporters were mostly divided on whether he was the appropriate guy for the position.

But since then, the Gers have only become better, with Clement dramatically changing the team both on and off the field.

Clement has already won one trophy, demonstrating why the club’s upper management held him in such high regard.

Even though the phrase “bigger club” might offend some Rangers fans, Keevins is obviously right in what he says.

Postecoglou is a good example because, despite what Celtic supporters believed of him, Tottenham came calling on him last summer.

In the end, though, the Belgian has a deal with Ibrox that runs through 2027.

It would take a lot to convince the Rangers board and Clement to break ways, even if a team does eventually approach them.

There is no “bigger club” that can stop Clement from leaving an enormous legacy at the Rangers.
