Celtic fans get into Rangers Women clash and give Ibrox club a message despite ALL away tickets being scrapped

Despite the cancellation of ALL away tickets, Celtic supporters show out to the Rangers Women game and deliver a message to the Ibrox club.

A number of them were sporting T-shirts that read, “football without fans is nothing,” which seemed to be a jab at the Ibrox club for turning away away fans.

When the SWPL derby match came to an end, Celtic supporters could be spotted in Ibrox rejoicing, even though Rangers had abruptly canceled all of the away tickets.

The table-topping match was expected to draw a large crowd of supporters from both teams, but Rangers revealed late last week that they had withdrawn all tickets for away bettors. They said that this was because they had information that “risk” supporters had bought briefs, but Celtic issued a statement calling the move “extremely disappointing.”

For certain fans, however, there’s a way where there’s a will. The match was televised live on BBC Alba, and ended in a 1-1 draw as Rangers’ Mia McAulay cancelled out Natasha Flint’s goal early in the second half. Additionally, television cameras captured images of the players having fun with a few out-of-town spectators who had managed to enter the stadium.

Several of them were wearing T-shirts that said, “football without fans is nothing,” as they cheered on their heroes. This was presumably a jab at the Ibrox club for turning away visiting fans.

It takes place against the backdrop of a standoff between the men’s teams, who continue to forbid away fans from attending league derbies at Parkhead or Ibrox. Celtic denied all allocations of tickets from the Light Blues for their September match at Ibrox, citing security concerns.

With the next men’s Premiership rivalry scheduled for April 7, it remains to be seen if that impasse can be broken before the season ends. The post-split fixtures have not yet been announced, although the women will meet again this term at least once.
