‘All I can say’: Brendan Rodgers responds after Celtic result as Rangers named ‘favourites’

Hearts and Aberdeen played out a hard match in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, ending in a disheartening stalemate. Every time one team gained the upper hand, the other swiftly countered, resulting in a 2-2 draw.

While acknowledging that his team’s goal conceded was disappointing, Nick Montgomery also said that it was “unfortunate” that Hibs did not receive a penalty for the handball claim in the first half. The Hibees have lost their last eight league games.

Hearts continue to look strong in third place after their 2-0 win over Motherwell thanks to second half goals from Lawrence Shankland and Kenneth Vargas. But what is the latest with the duo’s league rivals as the fight for the title continues to twist and turn?

Rangers tipped ‘favourites’ for title

Since Celtic lost to Kilmarnock at home in their most recent game, the gap at the top of the league has tightened considerably.Rangers now have a fantastic chance to move up to the top if they defeat St Johnstone three times on Sunday.

The Gers are now widely regarded as the new “favorites” and are predicted to win the championship. Speaking to BBC Radio Scotland, former Scotland international Michael Stewart said that the league’should have been over’ given Celtic’s prior lead.

Since Rangers are currently the favorites, it is obvious that the match was not finished. I believe I stated the Rangers were the favorites at that point last week or the week before because you could see the shift in momentum.”

Rodgers addresses Celtic boos

CCeltic’s most recent draw with Kilmarnock, which did not sit well with the supporters, could see them drop behind rivals Rangers. Following the game, hoops fans expressed their annoyance with jeers, which Brendan Rodgers has responded to.

The Celtics manager urged the supporters to stick with the club, saying in an interview with BBC Radio Scotland that they are still aiming for the championship and that he knows their feelings.

“Even if we had won 1-0 today, the fans’ reaction would still have made sense to me because of that performance. I completely understand, so I can draw the game as best I can for us then.

“After a disappointing outcome, all I can say is that we’ll be doing everything we can to putting the team in a better position so they can play again next week. And all we have to do is stick with the group and receive the wonderful support that they consistently provide.”
