Glasgow Rangers are on track to complete a spectacular treble, and winning the Premiership this season could be one of their greatest achievements, especially given where they were in September under Michael Beale.
After losing three of their first seven league matches, the current Sunderland manager was terminated. Philippe Clement was appointed as his replacement.
While the football was not pretty, and Beale failed to win a title during his disastrous ten-month tenure, the Englishman did make a few excellent additions for the team.

After taking over from Giovanni van Bronckhorst in late 2022, Beale led Rangers to nine wins and a tie in his first ten matches. However, he sought to improve the team during the January transfer window.
Several other teams missed out on the opportunity to capture the brilliant Englishman on loan, and it definitely looked like a daring move by Beale at the time, but if Palmer had come, he would have dramatically improved the Ibrox first team squad, no doubt about that.
The teenager made a few appearances for City during the conclusion of the season and won the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League, indicating that staying with the club was the best decision for him.
Despite appearing to have a good future at City, Palmer was moved to Chelsea last summer, and the move appears to have helped the youngster, particularly because he has received more regular game time.

The 21-year-old joined the Stamford Bridge side for a £40 million transfer fee ahead to the start of the 2023/24 season, and it appears to be a sensible investment, especially given his start to life in London.
Palmer, described as “exceptional” by previous manager Guardiola, has the potential to reach the top of the game if he maintains his current form. CIES Football Observatory values him at €100 million (£86 million).
Mauricio Pochettino has given the Englishman regular opportunity in the starting lineup, and he has excelled, scoring 12 goals and contributing nine assists.
Indeed, among the Chelsea squad, Palmer is even ranked first for goals and assists (16), along with also leading the rest of the team with regard to shots on target per game (one), big chances created (eight) and key passes per game (1.5), clearly showcasing that he is now one of the finest players in the squad.
Palmer ranks in the top 10% of his position for progressive passes per 90 (6.3), assists per 90 (0.36), and shot-creating actions (24%), demonstrating his exceptional performance for his team and across Europe’s top five leagues.
These statistics certainly build the narrative that he would have been a huge success if he had joined Rangers last season, even if it was only on a temporary basis, and he may well have been an upgrade to Cantwell.

Who knows what might have happened had Beale secured Palmer on a six-month loan deal, and he impressed during his spell in Glasgow. Could the Gers have signed him up for a further season-long deal?
It seems highly unrealistic, but if the club did, there is no doubt the 21-year-old would have been a far better option to call upon than Cantwell this term.
The former Norwich City starlet has improved in recent weeks and has now scored five league goals in his previous eight top-flight matches, taking his tally to six goals for the campaign.
However, against Ross County on Wednesday evening, the 25-year-old was outstanding, playing in his natural number 10 position.
Cantwell not only made four key passes during the clash, but he also created two big chances, had a total of four shots and succeeded with two of his four dribble attempts.
The only thing lacking was a goal or an assist, but his performance was visually appealing, and Clement would undoubtedly have been pleased to see him perform at such a high standard.
While missing out on Palmer was a setback for Beale last season, the Englishman has moved on to better things since joining Chelsea for £40 million last summer, relishing the demands of being a regular in the starting lineup.
His recent success demonstrated that Rangers had a lock on the youngster who is now thriving in the top level, and he could have made all the difference as the Gers struggled at the close of the 2022/23 season.
If he continues to succeed under Pochettino, he may soon be plucked from Chelsea, since he possesses all of the qualities required to shine for much larger clubs. There is no dispute about that.
