UCLA Football: Chip Kelly Surprisingly High in Rankings on Coach Hires

Kelly departed UCLA to become the Ohio State Buckeyes’ offensive coordinator.

The UCLA Bruins football team’s big headline this offseason has been a change in head coaching.

Chip Kelly has stepped down as head coach after deciding to move to Columbus to become Ohio State’s offensive coordinator.

Former Bruins player DeShaun Foster has taken over as the team’s leader, and the program is ecstatic. Foster’s inexperience as a

leading man has led to some criticism, despite bringing new enthusiasm.

Kelly was a seasoned head coach, but he was likely tired of being at UCLA. Despite his lack of success with the Bruins, Kelly was

picked first in a poll of which new coordinator appointment would have the greatest impact on the upcoming season.

Kelly may have underperformed for the Bruins, but he still understands the game of football. He has been considered as a good

offensive thinker throughout his career, and with him in charge of the Buckeyes attack, things should operate much more smoothly.

The seasoned coach will also feel less pressure because the team’s shortcomings would be attributed to Ryan Day rather than

himself. Kelly only needs to make sure the offense is working smoothly, and the rest will take care of itself.

It’s better that Kelly and the Bruins separate. It was time. However, the Bruins are left with the idea that they could have done things differently in recent seasons.
