The former AC Milan director Ariedo Braida has shared his thoughts on the future of Stefano Pioli and the remainder of the Rossoneri’s season. He stated that they must aim to win the Europa League, having returned to important levels.
Braida was a director at Milan for an amazing 27 years (1986–2013), so she is undoubtedly familiar with what it takes to build a winning squad. His retirement at the age of 77 comes from his prior role as CEO of Cremonese.
Braida gave an interview to Tuttosport this morning, as reported by MilanNews, when he discussed Pioli. Braida thinks Milan should keep the manager, despite the manager being extensively linked to an exit in the summer. He also gave an overview of the Europa League’s objective.
“I’m clinging to Pioli because I like him. When everything functions as it should, both on the corporate and bench levels there will be continuity. However, bad things happen in places where change occurs frequently. Although there are occasionally exceptions and fresh approaches are required, Pioli is demonstrating in this instance his worth and skill as a coach. I would take a chance on him”.
“I sharply criticised Milan two months ago because I thought they lacked credibility in a lot of instances. They have now matured and are regaining prominence on par with Milan. The team has improved greatly in the last several weeks; they now play with greater assurance and do a good job of covering ground. I hope they’ll be able to compete at the top levels. Europa League? Milan has a lot of opportunity to speak in this competition. They have to aspire to take home the trophy,” he said.
Milan’s Europa League journey got off to a great start on Thursday night as they defeated Stade Rennes 3-0. Assuming the second leg proceeds as expected, the Round of 16 draw will feature intriguing teams like Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen.
