Cifuentes caught in limbo after Rangers exit
Since departing LAFC in the summer, Cifuentes‘ career hasn’t exactly gone as expected. His stint with
the Rangers was a bust, and now the backup plan is stalling.
He had been tipped to make his debut in Brazil this weekend (18 February) but it looks clear that will not
now be happening.
The noises coming from his new club indicate they are very excited to have him, and since he chose the
move over a number of other Ibrox exit options it looks to be the best place from his point of view as
well.
But after struggling for football in Scotland, particularly after Michael Beale was replaced by Philippe
Clement, his wait goes on in South America.
Although there is still time to close the Brazilian transfer window until March 7 [Andy Newport, 1
February], there is a good chance that Belo Horizonte’s carnival season may pose issues.
But if Cruzeiro and Larcamon don’t know when the problem will be resolved, it implies that something
else might have gone wrong.
In other Rangers news, following “astonishing” happenings at Ibrox, a pundit has conjectured about a
Lawrence Shankland transfer.
