Celtic slam Rangers Women clash away fan ban and claim Ibrox club snubbed safe options for visiting supporters

The Ibrox club made the decision after claiming ‘risk’ supporters had purchased tickets.

Celtic describes as ‘hugely sad’ Rangers’ decision to cancel all away tickets for the SWPL match at Ibrox.

On the eve of the Women’s Derby match on Sunday, the Ibrox club said that no out-of-town supporters would be

permitted entry into the stadium. They cited information they had received suggesting that ‘risk’ supporters had

bought tickets, and they made this decision following discussions with Police Scotland.

In response to the news, Celtic released the following statement on their website: “Today, at Ibrox Stadium, all

away tickets for the women’s SWPL match will be cancelled, as notified to Celtic Football Club just this morning.

The decision to deny access to so many fans is extremely disappointing, especially in light of the fact that the home

club had several options to enable our fans to attend in a stadium of this size safely and in light of the anticipated

number of attendees. This is especially true in light of the fact that so many people are working so hard to support

and promote the women’s game in Scotland.

“Celtic will coordinate refunds for all tickets with the home team and will notify our supporters who bought tickets

as soon as feasible.” With pleasure, we notify our fans that those who would want to attend the game can watch it

on television at Celtic Park’s Sports Bar.
