Rangers might need to shatter post-2012 Ibrox record to sign Luca Langoni amid £11.9m news.
Both under Philippe Clement and Michael Beale, Rangers have made significant transfers in attacking skill in previous windows.
The latter brought Sam Lammers, Danilo, Cyriel Dessers, and Abdallah Sima to Ibrox during a particularly busy summer transfer season.
Not every one of those signatures has paid off, as Sammers already gone on loan, requiring Clement to bring in fresh players in January.
The three players that the Belgian manager brought in on loan were Oscar Cortes, Mohammed Diomande, and Fabio Silva.
However, they might still try to bolster this area during the upcoming transfer window; Luca Langoni, a winger for Boca Juniors,
is one possible choice.
Journalist Mark Hendry of Football Scotland reports on January 16 that the 22-year-old was approached by the Gers last summer, but they ultimately decided to go with other players.
It will require a lot of work if they do wish to rekindle that desire this summer, as Boca Noticias reported on Thursday, February
15, that Langoni now has a $15 million (£11.9 million) release clause in his current deal.
With the exception of the £12 million the Gers paid for Tore Andre Flo in 2000, it would be the most expensive signing at Ibrox
since the team entered administration in 2012 [The Athletic, 1 December 2020].
Should Langoni decide to transfer to Scotland in the near future for a large salary, there would surely be a great deal of strain on his young shoulders.
Any move for the winger would undoubtedly depend on the funds available at Ibrox and what Clement has in store for his current group of attackers.
