Philippe Clement fires back amid Rangers fan pressure claim

Amidst claims of pressure from Rangers fans, Philippe Clement responds sharply.

Rangers’ match against Ross County meant more than just three points might be won; finishing first in the standings wasn’t necessary, but it would have been another indication that Philippe Clement is a skilled manager.

There can’t be many complaints about a game strategy and series of substitutions that saw 43 attempts at goal, with over half of those on target in a near-Ibrox bombardment, as the Gers boss had his team revved up.

Although the fans may have had an impact on the performance in the past, particularly at 1-1, Philippe Clement says his team is now just concerned with winning while wearing a Rangers shirt.

Rangers under Philippe Clement maintaining composure

Too many times have we witnessed players abandoning the game strategy and simply sending cross after cross into a crowded penalty area.

Against Ross County, it would have been simple to pull this off, but Clement has this team more prepared with a message that is unlikely to alter.

At his news conference following the game, he was asked if he believed that fans should be more patient and if the players might not handle the situation well. He replied,

“I didn’t feel the same way on the field as it did today, but there is definitely a risk.”

“We need to break away from living like fans on the field because that will prevent us from achieving our objectives.

“I am incredibly proud of the players’ performance today because they never showed signs of nervousness—only a constant desire for more and more and more.”

Clement is correct; at 1-1, nothing altered.

We reset and went at it again, launching through balls at the Ross County box even though they were only using three center halves.

Wing-backs and full-backs were tucking in as the wingers committed, allowing possession to be regained more quickly in the event that it was lost.

Rangers are undoubtedly moving in the right direction, despite the fact that nothing has been won yet. The mentality has been questioned in the past, and for good reason.
