Rangers: In response to remarks made about Celtic at Ibrox, Philippe Clement takes aim at a journalist from the BBC.
In response to a BBC reporter, Rangers manager Philippe Clement has fired back, stating that the team’s victory over Ross County was not about surpassing Celtic in a recent triple crown result at Ibrox.
With a 3-1 victory at Ibrox on Wednesday, February 14, the Light Blues tied Brendan Rodgers’ team for first place in the Scottish Premiership. However, they are now only behind the Hoops on goal differential.
Clement has stated that he is “not busy with Celtic” and is instead focused on trying to win a domestic treble with his team, despite the fact that his team continued to strive for a fourth goal that would have seen them top the league.
On Wednesday, February 14, at 22:25, he stated in an interview with BBC Radio Scotland, “It was not about top spot.” There was definitely a push to set more objectives. We must keep our attention on ourselves and not on how many goals other teams have left in the remaining games.
Although the question is lengthy, the response will be succinct. I’m preoccupied with Rangers, not Celtics. To improve this team, to win as many trophies as we can both now and in the future, and to score as many points as we can as a team.
“To allow the group and team to develop.” All that’s on our minds is that. So let’s just concentrate on ourselves. The only team remaining in all three competitions is us. We will put up a strong battle to maintain that because we are proud of it.
Philippe Clement seems unfazed by Celtic during the Rangers game.
It’s safe to assume that Clement, along with every other fan at Ibrox, would have preferred to see his team score a fourth goal to take the lead against the Hoops for the first time in his tenure, but in the end, such a change would have been meaningless.
When the Belgian moved to Glasgow, Rangers didn’t seem to have a chance in the championship race, but they are now firmly in it. In the larger scheme of things, it doesn’t really matter if they are the team leading after two weeks in February.
The Light Blues’ only option is to concentrate on winning every game, as Clement recommended on Wednesday, as this championship battle will most likely come down to the wire, as nearly every analyst has anticipated.
That should be sufficient for the Gers to win the championship at the conclusion of the year, but it’s obvious that the Ibrox camp isn’t too concerned about what their Glasgow neighbors are doing next door.
Tom Miller was astounded by what the “absolutely sensational” Rabbi Matondo did against Ross County, according to other Rangers reports.
