Rangers: BBC Sportscene pundit slams John Souttar despite win v Ross County at Ibrox.
Despite Rangers’ emphatic victory over Ross County on Wednesday, Neil McCann criticized John Souttar for his role in The Staggies’ equalizing goal.
Cyriel Dessers opened the goal after just five minutes, but Ross County refused to give up and sought to exploit Rangers’ defensive flaws.
Simon Murray equalised after just 25 minutes, blasting a volley past Jack Butland with the defenders nowhere near him following a pass in behind.
McCann told BBC Sportscene on February 14th that playing [Eamonn] Brophy and Murray is enough to turn Rangers around. You saw Aberdeen’s excitement when they hit balls over the top.
“The ball is knocked on, and John Souttar is out there, attempting to affect Murray. Goldson should block the cross, but Souttar’s
body stance is entirely incorrect. James Tavernier should tuck in and deal with the immediate danger.
Rangers weakness for Clement to address
Philippe Clement has no reason to celebrate his team’s efforts leading up to Ross County’s goal that pulled them even.
Too many times, Rangers have been caught off guard by a long ball over the top.
As McCann said, Aberdeen has also been a team in the Scottish Premiership to take advantage of this vulnerability, as seen by Bojan Miovski’s numerous mishaps in Neil Warnock’s debut match as manager of The Dons.
