Liverpool $66m ‘target’ Xabi Alonso loves ‘recommended‘ by rival as Barcelona eyes Everton ace
Rivals of Liverpool round-up: Everton may have to sell one of its most valuable assets, and the Reds may
have competition from Arsenal for a gifted La Liga midfielder.
The summer transfer window at Liverpool will be managed by two important individuals who have not
yet been appointed at Anfield. The replacement of Jürgen Klopp has not yet been determined, therefore
the Reds are still searching for a new manager and sporting director.
After the January transfer window, Jörg Schmadtke’s short-term contract expired, hence he will also
need to be replaced. Numerous candidates have been associated with both positions; however, Xabi
Alonso, the manager of Bayer Leverkusen, appears to be the front-runner to assume the role of manager.
It remains to be seen which areas of the team Liverpool’s next boss will look to strengthen after four
midfield signings were made last summer. There are a plethora of options in attack too, while the
emergence of both Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah has provided some much-needed defensive cover.
