Nick Bosa and Chase Young, two former Ohio State Buckeyes, shine in Super Bowl LVIII.
Despite the outcome, former Ohio State Buckeyes Nick Bosa and Chase Young made an impression on Super Bowl LVIII. The former Buckeyes combined for eight tackles in the 49ers’ loss against the Chiefs of Kansas City. Bosa and Young combined for five quarterback hits during the game to ensure that the Chiefs quarterback was uneasy in the pocket as well.
Bosa had his second Super Bowl appearance in his career on Sunday, but Young had never made one in his four years. In his postgame press conference, the former Washington Commander appeared distraught and just one word to describe the loss. It’s difficult, Young remarked. “Join a fantastic group halfway through the season to just get thrown in the mix. It’s difficult.” After barely ten minutes in the first quarter, Young left his stamp on the game.
When Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs dropped back to pass, he was first exposed to Young’s tackling prowess. The Chiefs lost seven yards as a consequence of the play.
Young will be a free agent this offseason after being moved from the Commanders to the 49ers during the midst of the season. If San Francisco appreciates Young’s collaboration with Bosa enough to bring him back for a another season, only time will tell. Conversely, Bosa is enjoying his newfound freedom after receiving a contract extension at the start of the campaign. After agreeing to a five-year, $170 million contract in September, Bosa will remain a 49ers player through the 2029 season. Bosa will be able to sign with any team after that year.
