‘Exceptional’… Barry Ferguson thinks 29-year-old’s Rangers form is down to simplifying his game
‘Exceptional’… Barry Ferguson thinks 29-year-old’s Rangers form is down to simplifying his game
Despite the fact that Michael Beale’s summer signing class was struggling mightily, Clement was able to
extract the maximum performance from them.
Additionally, after trailing Celtic by seven points in October, Rangers are now maybe the favorites to win
the Scottish Premiership.
Ferguson thinks Todd Cantwell, who according to Transfer market has scored five goals in his in eight
league appearances, has been particularly good in the past several months and might be essential to
Rangers’ title challenge.
But it’s midfielder John Lundstram who has caught Ferguson’s eye the most since
Clement’s Ibrox arrival and thinks he’s been the most consistent player for Rangers this season.
Moreover, our former captain is hugely impressed by his leadership qualities in the middle of the park
and not being frightened to bellow at his teammates when needed.
Barry Ferguson praises John Lundstram
Barry Ferguson was speaking on The Go Radio Football Show and when asked who his favourite Rangers
star has been so far this season, he replied: “Well since the new manager has taken over, the most
consistent performer – and he may not have been man of the match every single game – John
Lundstram stood out for me like a sore thumb.
“He’s just played that pivot in front of the two centre-backs and he’s just simplified his game which I
think has brought his game up a level or two.
“So he’s one player I’m sure the manager will be desperate to get on a new contract because we all
know he runs out of contract in the summer. Rangers will be desperate to get him tied down on a new
deal.
“He’s probably playing the best football since he signed for Rangers. He looks to me as well that he is a
real leader on the pitch and the players are obviously looking up to him.
