El Bufalo is back as former Rangers hero opens Santos account

As the former Rangers hero registers Santos account, El Bufalo returns.

After over a year and a half, Alfredo Morelos, the mysterious forward, has finally broken through his goal drought and scored his first goal for Santos.

El Bufalo made his debut against Serie A team Sao Paulo six months after joining the Brazilian powerhouses. His most recent goal came against St. Mirren at Ibrox in April of last year.

Alfredo Morelos will be hopeful that his first goal of the campaign may give Santos a fresh start after leaving the Rangers and having a terrible 2023.

Alfredo Morelos gets off the mark for Santos

The 27-year-old came off the bench to score the game-winning goal from the spot after previously making an impression with a sliding rule assist.

The last time Morelos took a penalty, for those who have forgotten, was in the disastrous 2019 League Cup final, where he ought to have won a medal and the match ball.

After five years, Morelos made a different decision, and he will be happy to simply hit the mark for Santos.

Not that there is anything wrong with playing for a major team like Santos, but the only way he can go back up the football ladder is by staying healthy, finding the net, and demonstrating that he still has what it takes to be a premier striker.

Though what he did to Borussia Dortmund’s defense in 2022 isn’t exactly a distant memory—he wasn’t exactly a grafter on the training field—the thigh injury he sustained after going through such a high has made it tough for him to recreate anything like it.

Santos’ X account celebrated the event by saying, “El Bufalo is the name,” even though it might “only” be a penalty.

He would nearly have forgotten what it was like to be a matchwinner and buzz when he came back to that state.

It’s El Bufalo again!
