Clement hits back at BBC journo after what was said about Celtic after Rangers win v Ross County

Rangers: Philippe Clement hits back at BBC journalist after what was said about Celtic at Ibrox.

In response to a BBC reporter, Rangers manager Philippe Clement has fired back, stating that the team’s victory over Ross County was not about surpassing Celtic in a recent triple crown result at Ibrox.

With a 3-1 victory at Ibrox on Wednesday, February 14, the Light Blues tied Brendan Rodgers’ team for first place in the Scottish Premiership. However, they are now only behind the Hoops on goal differential.

Clement has stated that he is “not busy with Celtic” and is instead focused on trying to win a domestic treble with his team, despite the fact that his team continued to strive for a fourth goal that would have seen them top the league.

On Wednesday, February 14, at 22:25, he stated in an interview with BBC Radio Scotland, “It was not about top spot.” There was definitely a push to set more objectives. We must keep our attention on ourselves and not on how many goals other teams have left in the remaining games.

Although the question is lengthy, the response will be succinct. I’m preoccupied with Rangers, not Celtics. To improve this team, to win as many trophies as we can both now and in the future, and to score as many points as we can as a team.

“Let the team and club grow. We’re solely preoccupied with it. So we’ll focus solely on ourselves. We’re the only team left in three competitions. We’re proud of that, and we’ll fight hard for it.”

It’s easy to say that Clement, like all Ibrox supporters, would have like to see his side score a fourth goal to move ahead of the Hoops for the first time under his leadership, but such a movement would have been meaningless in the end.

Rangers are well and truly now in the title race, something that didn’t seem possible when the Belgian arrived in Glasgow. Whether or not they are the team sitting top in the second week of February ultimately isn’t important in the grand scheme of things.

The title race will likely be close, as expected by pundits. The Light Blues can only focus on winning all of their games, as Clement stated on Wednesday.

The Gers hope to win the title by the end of the season, but they are unconcerned about their rivals in Glasgow.
