Bill O’Brien Thanks Ryan Day, Opens Up About Boston College Move

Bill O’Brien Much obliged, Ryan Day opens up about moving to Boston College.

Over the past two weeks, the Ohio State Buckeyes have encountered an uncommon circumstance. Bill O’Brien was hired by the Buckeyes last month to serve as their offensive coordinator. Ryan Day is anticipated to relinquish play-calling duties to the veteran coach come 2024. But three weeks later, O’Brien was already leaving Columbus to take over as head coach of Boston College, and Day turned to Chip Kelly, the head coach of UCLA, to take his position.

In addition, O’Brien expressed gratitude to Day for his compassion and patience during the process at his Boston press conference.

“I really want to thank Ryan Day, the head football coach at Ohio State for his patience and his understanding of why it was so important for me to pursue this job,” O’Brien stated. “A large number of individuals at Boston College are aware of Ryan Day. Ryan Day is an amazing coach and guy, and he was wonderful throughout the entire process.” So why did O’Brien go from Columbus during his short stay? Being the head coach of the Eagles has always been a dream for O’Brien, who is from Boston and spent the most of his childhood and undergraduate years watching the team. And now his wish has come true.
