Bill O’Brien Thanks Ryan Day, Opens Up About Boston College Move.

Over the past two weeks, the Ohio State Buckeyes have encountered an uncommon circumstance. Six weeks ago, the Buckeyes hired

Bill O’Brien as their new offensive coordinator; the seasoned coach is anticipated to replace Ryan Day as play-caller.

for the upcoming 2024 season. But after only three weeks, O’Brien was leaving Columbus to take over as the new head of

coach at Boston College, and Day decided to replace him with Chip Kelly, the head coach of UCLA.

And during his introductory presser in Boston, O’Brien thanked Day for his patience and understanding during the process.

“I sincerely appreciate Ohio State’s head football coach Ryan Day’s understanding and patience in understanding why it was so

vital for me to go after this position,” O’Brien remarked. “A large number of individuals at Boston College are aware of Ryan Day.

Ryan Day is an amazing coach and guy, and he was wonderful throughout the entire process.” Why then did O’Brien depart?

Columbus following the short stay? Being the head coach of the Eagles was always O’Brien’s desire as a Boston native.

“I always dreamed about being the head coach at Boston College,” stated O’Brien. “My career has experienced some ups and downs, and

lead me down paths I never would have thought to follow, but now that I’m here, I couldn’t be more appreciative that the path has finally

transported me back to Boston College, my hometown. I appreciate everyone’s presence and am honored to serve as your head coach.

In less than a month, O’Brien and the Eagles kick up spring football.
