£3.5m star drops Rangers transfer eye opener as he speaks his truth over ‘unexpected’ Ibrox decision

The £3.5 million player opens up about his ‘surprise’ Ibrox choice and drops a bombshell on the Rangers transfer scene.

The Rangers player gave his account of the trade after leaving Ibrox in January.

According to Sam Lammers, he was not required to leave Rangers during the January transfer window.

After leaving Serie A team Atalanta to join the Ibrox club last summer, the attacker found it difficult to settle in. He was signed by the Light Blues for a reputed sum of £3.5 million because Michael Beale wanted him to be a part of his ambitions.

He netted two goals in 31 games prior to being loaned to FC Utrecht in the Netherlands. Lammers has since admitted that he was surprised by the decision to lend him out in a chat with Voetbal.

“(An Ibrox exit) was unexpected, after a period with a lot of playing time,” the 26-year-old stated. I had agreed to a four-year contract in Scotland with the goal of relocating there permanently.

“Neither did I have to depart. FC Utrecht promptly took action after registering their interest. That influenced my decision last month.

“The decisive action, the positive conversations with Jordy Zuidam (technical director) and Ron Jans (head coach), the confidence I felt, the club as a whole, my ambition to continue playing full matches every week… It became a nice package.”

Under Philippe Clement, who has access to a lot of firepower, Lammers lost favor. During the January transfer window, he added Oscar Cortes and Fabio Silva to complement his other stars.

Even though Danilo and Kemar Roofe are hurt right now, he may still use Ross McCausland, Cyriel Dessers, Rabbi Matondo, and Scott Wright in forward areas. Todd Cantwell, Tom Lawrence, and Mohamed Diomande are also capable of playing at advanced positions.
