Simon Jordan shares £80m Jarrad Branthwaite verdict after what he saw at Everton.
Simon Jordan slammed Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite live on air following his fight with Erling Haaland against Manchester City on Saturday, February 10.
The Everton centre-back was shoved out of the way by the Premier League’s top scorer before sliding past Jordan Pickford to
extend Man City’s lead in a 2-0 loss at the Etihad Stadium.
The former Crystal Palace chairman was full of praise for Haaland, who scored his 16th league goal of the season, and harshly
criticized Branthwaite for getting rag-dolled in the buildup.
Speaking via talkSPORT on Tuesday (14 February), Jordan said: “Erling Haaland played at such a level where he made that centre-back look relatively pedestrian.
“People talk about him being an £80million centre-back. Okay, fine, he’s good.”
Jarrad Branthwaite worth millions at Everton
Jordan’s comments about Branthwaite reveal considerably more about Haaland than the Everton defender. The Manchester City forward has the ability to do so against any defender.
The Everton defender is no exception, despite being one of the Premier League’s most promising young players. The 21-year-old has started 21 of Everton’s 24 league games, forming a strong relationship with James Tarkowski.
He has even pushed Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey down the pecking order under Sean Dyche, winning a starting berth after a vital loan spell at PSV Eindhoven last season.
Branthwaite was one of Everton’s top performers until Haaland’s late brace, when the team appeared to be on track to keep a clean sheet against the current Premier League winners.
Despite the incident with Haaland, Branthwaite remains a highly prized defender in the top level, attracting interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Real Madrid for a summer transfer.
