Ohio State football adds Michigan transfer linebacker Joey Velazquez as walk-on
Although Ohio State hasn’t defeated Michigan in a few seasons, they did so in an unusual fashion.
Numerous sources state that linebacker Joey Velazquez, a transfer from the Wolverines, is joining the Buckeyes.
Before transferring, Velazquez played for Michigan for the previous five seasons.
Velazquez has already participated in winter drills with Ohio State and is set to join the squad as a walk-on. Velazquez went via the transfer portal back in December.
Velazquez was committed to play baseball at Ohio State before deciding to attend Michigan after high school.
In the end, he decided to switch his pledge to play both at Michigan. Velazquez led the Wolverines in hitting during his senior
season, when he started 38 games and finished with four home runs and 36 hits.
During his time playing football at Michigan, Velazquez mostly played on special teams and finished with seven tackles.
Twelve games in 2022 and one in 2021 saw him play.
