Jamie Carrager slams delay over Everton’s appeal to have 10-point deduction…

Jamie Carragher, a lifelong Everton supporter, has criticised the Premier League for their tardiness in releasing a ruling about the team’s appeal against their 10-point deduction.

Jamie Carragher, a pundit for Sky Sports, has criticised the Premier League for taking too long to make a decision about Everton’s points punishment.

In November, the Toffees were punished ten points for exceeding their budget by around £20 million for a three-year term ending in the 2021–2022 season. But the club didn’t wait long to seek an appeal following the record Premier League sanction, pointing to the ongoing building of its new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock as a major contributing factor to the expenditure violation.

The Premier League has not provided an update on the appeal’s status over three months after it was filed. And Carragher, a lifelong Everton supporter, expressed his annoyance in a public speech.

With the appeal having been heard almost a fortnight ago, Carragher posted on X (previously Twitter) on Wednesday, asking: “What is the status of the appeals judgement about Everton’s 10pt deduction? Since two weeks have gone, Everton and the surrounding clubs must act quickly.

“I’m sure they & the PL know their decision by now. Are the PL waiting until after Everton’s home game on Monday because they fear the reaction?”
