Rangers: Philippe Clement must recall ‘pivotal’ John Lundstram v Ross County after Ayr cameo.
Rangers can move top of the Scottish Premiership for the first time under Philippe Clement when they face Ross County.
The Gers welcome the Staggies to Ibrox on Wednesday (14 February), with a win by three or more goals propelling the hosts to the top of the table.
Even with Ross County’s troubles this season, the man in the dugout cannot afford to make many mistakes in the game.
Clement should immediately recall midfielder John Lundstram to the starting lineup after his benching against Ayr United.
The former Premier League star came in as a 70th-minute replacement in the Scottish Cup match on Saturday (10 February), continuing his impressive form under Clement with a crucial cameo.
Rangers need Lundstram v Ross County
Given his importance to the manager, Lundstram was rested for the duration of the game against Ayr, especially after
playing the complete 90 minutes against Aberdeen the previous match.
And that was a game in which he had a huge influence in multiple areas, with the midfielder completing 85% of his passes, one of
which was crucial, as well as making two clearances and three tackles, the latter figure being the highest of any Gers player.
Sky Sports analyst Kenny Miller praised Lundstram’s performance, calling him the “most pivotal” player since Clement took charge.
He has been invaluable to the Belgians in a variety of ways, with the defensive-minded midfielder also contributing in the final third with one goal and four assists this season [Transfermarkt].
