“We could have left this winter” – Agent reveals Everton star said ‘no’ to transfer ‘opportunities’ in January
One of Everton’s biggest stories throughout the January transfer window was whether Amadou Onana would still be at Goodison Park by the end of the month.
Much to everyone’s joy, he was never sold by the Toffees, who are in a grueling relegation battle after losing 10 points.
Onana’s sister, who is also his agent, informed Noyau Dur that he had the option to quit Everton last month, but chose to stay.
Speaking to journalist Sacha Tavolieri on his YouTube show, Mélissa Onana was anxious to underline that she has no effect on her brother’s decisions, despite advising him.
She stated, “We could have left this winter, but we sat down and asked if it’s the right time and if the player is ready.” My job is to present opportunities.
“In the end, he is responsible for his own life and career. I presented the opportunities to him, and he responded, “No, I want to stay at Everton and continue to fight.”
Lance Kawaya, another guest on the show, then questioned the agent if she agreed with her brother’s decisions, even if she believed they were wrong.
Mélissa Onana stated, “I’m fortunate that my brother is intelligent, which is not the case for all players, so I give him the pros and cons of a situation that’s on the table.”

“Personally, I’m also not a fan of transfers during the winter. Often, it’s to put a stop to a bad situation.
