Transfer news: As a “scramble” unfolds, five premier teams are interested in signing Everton star

This season, the Everton young player has been outstanding.

Up to five premier clubs in Europe are reportedly showing serious interest in signing Everton’s teenage sensation Jarrad Branthwaite.

The 21-year-old Branthwaite has been one of the division’s top young defenders this season, excelling at the back for Sean Dyche. The England U21 international’s stellar season this year was made possible by his successful loan at PSV Eindhoven last season, despite his limited Everton playing experience before to this year.

Teams are beginning to recognise that he possesses all the qualities of a premier modern defender: he is tall, athletic, calm, and technically sound. Given that Everton may need to sell in the upcoming windows and that the team has well-documented financial difficulties off the pitch, elite clubs may consider Branthwaite as a viable alternative.

The Daily Mail claims that Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Arsenal have all made inquiries, but Manchester United and Tottenham are the two teams vying for the top spot in the “transfer scramble.” According to the report, United is also keeping an eye on players like Antonio Silva of Benfica, Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice, and 18-year-old Leny Yoro of Lille, who was also connected to Liverpool.

The fact that the article indicates that United are aiming to bring in two young centre backs this summer as INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe get their first chance to improve Erik ten Hag’s side in the transfer market is the biggest supporter of the hypothesis that United could move for Branthwaite. Following a strong debut season in the top division, Branthwaite is a good match and someone who could step into the game right away.

Despite the interest, Everton is in a good situation. They can now demand a hefty price if they decide to break ways because he signed a new contract earlier this season. Similar to John Stones, who attracted interest from England’s elite teams, Everton may realistically ask for an additional £15–30 million given inflation and the terms of Stones’ contract, which he signed in 2016.
