‘I can see’: Michael Beale explains ‘unique’ thing he loves about ‘impressive’ Sunderland star

Michael Beale has explained what has really impressed him about Jack Clarke since joining Sunderland two months ago.

Prior to Michael Beale’s arrival, Jack Clarke had attention from teams like Burnley, Brighton, and Crystal Palace, and he hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down since.

In the nine league games played under the new management, the winger has contributed three assists and four goals, bringing his total for the season to 18 goal contributions.

Although Clarke has already assured the media that he is still “happy” to be on Wearside, Sunderland rejected proposals from Lazio for the player in the January transfer window, and it appears quite probable that he will join the Premier League in the summer.

Although Beale thinks Clarke has already made significant progress in his brief stint, he will probably be crucial to the Black Cats’ playoff run this season and has been excellent in doing so thus far.

The 43-year-old stated, “You see all that Jack does in terms of the final third, but I get a unique insight into him in terms of the boy,” in an interview with the Sunderland Echo.

“So now I’m working with him, I can see that he’s super fit, he wants to get better and so he’s asking questions – he’s improved defensively since I’ve been here just by taking on some advice. In the big moments in the game, he doesn’t go hiding and he steps up for his club and for his team mates. He’s calm in front of goal. I wouldn’t want to compare him to anyone but I would say that he’s an impressive young man, not just an impressive footballer.”
