Following their AFCON victory, a Chelsea icon writes a nine-word note to a Nottingham Forest standout.

Ibrahim Sangare of Nottingham Forest has received a lot of appreciation from Didier Drogba for his part in the Africa Cup of Nations success for Ivory Coast.

The midfielder participated in all but one of his country’s home tournament matches, helping them to win. In the final held on Sunday at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan, the Elephants defeated Nigeria 2-1 to win their third Africa Cup of Nations championship.

Ivory Coast was on the verge of elimination from the tournament after losing 4-0 to Equatorial Guinea in their final group match, thus their victory came as a surprise. In the championship game, they too had to fight back from a 1-0 deficit following goals from captain William Troost-Ekong of Nigeria and Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller completed an incredible victory.

Additionally, Drogba—a former striker for Chelsea and Ivory Coast international—praised Sangare’s contribution to his country’s success in an Instagram story post that spanned nine words. “At the end of the effort,” he stated. Excellent work, my son!

The Dutch Eredivisie team PSV Eindhoven sent their defensive midfielder, who arrived at the City Ground last summer. According to reports, the 26-year-old beat over fierce competition to sign a five-year contract with Forest.

Sangare, who has played for the Reds in 11 games this season, might make his home debut for Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad on Saturday at 3 p.m. against West Ham.
