Extremely powerful According to Jim Goodwin, Brendan Rodgers at Celtic depends on two Celtic players in particular.

It is fair to say, in my opinion, that Celtic have been terribly underperforming this season under Brendan Rodgers.

Although leading the Scottish Premiership, Rodgers’ team has not been at their attacking best, finding it difficult to break teams down. The football has been slow, bland, and generally quite difficult to watch.

Of course, there are a number of reasons behind that. A team’s performance can be impacted by injuries, new players, and a new system, but according to Jim Goodwin, a former manager of Aberdeen, Rodgers truly depends on two individuals at Celtic.

“I do think he [Joe Hart] has come in for a lot of unfair criticism this season,” Goodwin stated [Viaplay Sports].

“I believe that both Hart and McGregor have been extremely significant for Celtic in recent weeks, especially considering the guys they are missing.
Before the game, I told Neil that, when Hart and McGregor are removed from the starting lineup for Celtics, the team is a very, very young one.

“Those two will undoubtedly be looked to by Brendan Rodgers as leaders on the park.”

For the previous two seasons, Hart and McGregor have both been essential to Celtic’s success. The two were superb under Ange Postecoglou, who was tearing up the Scottish game.

Both Hart and McGregor were cornerstones in Postecoglou’s Celtic team, winning five out of six trophies, including a record-breaking eighth treble. Coincidentally, Rodgers has continued to rely on both this season; McGregor has only missed one game, against Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup final round.

Hart has only missed one game as well. The 36-year-old missed the next match against Motherwell, though, due to suspension after getting sent off against Livingston.

It is obvious that Rodgers will turn to both players to help Celtic win if he hopes to win both the league and the cup this season.
