Exclusive: Everton are doing something right now which will ‘revolutionise’ the football club

It does very much feel like Everton are treading water at the moment. There is hope that a light at the end of the tunnel might be right around the corner, but it just never seems to come. Any ray of positivity is very often and very quickly expunged, and frustratingly, the doom and gloom returns. However, there is one aspect of the club which retains its sparkle, as the promise of a brighter future where success and stability are assured. That is the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, and we at Everton News spoke exclusively to Dr Dan Plumley about the potential benefits its completion will invoke.

What finance expert Dan Plumley said about Bramley-Moore Dock

Dan Plumley

As a Chartered Global Management Accountant and football finance expert, there are few more qualified to speak about the various issues plaguing the Toffees at the moment.Having already given his prediction for the upcoming appeal, we questioned whether the stadium, set to be completed later this year, could offer that much-needed escape from the financial black hole the club finds itself in.

He replied: ‘I stand by the fact that the stadium is the right move for the club in the long run, but there’s no doubt the way it’s been put together, and the ownership challenges with Moshiri and how he’s operated, has caused some of the short term problems. ‘There’s no doubt about that.‘Even if you look at Arsenal, or Spurs now as the benchmark, that stadium for Spurs cost £1bn and Everton’s is half of that, let’s say it’s £750m when all’s said and done. You can’t recoup all that money straight away no matter what you do, but over time it will revolutionise the club from the match-day point of view.’

Brighter future for Everton

As Dr Plumley noted, it could very well revolutionise the club for a number of reasons. However, and most importantly, the financial avenues that can be explored are multiplied exponentially.Just from the increased capacity alone will gate receipts receive a boost, but that in turn means more people purchasing food, drinks and merchandise from the store. Not only that, but the popularity of this freshly-built arena is only certain to further potential sponsorship deals and investments, many of whom will be clamouring to get a piece of the newest piece of footballing architecture in the country. With Sean Dyche having once again forged a team for fans to be proud of, the hope is that he can lead them into the new stadium, still in the Premier League, and with a strong foundation built for financial prosperity going forward.
