Unai Emery says Manchester United have a ‘very dangerous’ 28-year-old in their ranks

Unai Emery says Manchester United have a ‘very dangerous’ 28-year-old in their ranks.

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has branded Manchester United defender Luke Shaw as a “very dangerous” player ahead of the Villans’ game against the Red Devils.

The Villa boss highlighted Diogo Dalot and Casemiro as vital players for Manchester United in an interview with the club’s media staff before of their Premier League match on Saturday.

Shaw is one of the Red Devils’ most talented and in-form players. However, he has struggled with injury this season, making only 13 club appearances across all competitions in 2023/24.

When he plays, the 28-year-old significantly changes Manchester United’s attacking lineup. He and Marcus Rashford have a terrific link-up relationship down the left side.

With both expected to be available for the Red Devils’ trip to Villa, the hosts may have their job cut out as they look to return to winning ways.

“My concern and analysis of them is trying to understand their game plan and to understand their qualities, collectively and individually,” Emery said at a press conference on Friday.

“We must strive to stop them, beginning with the goalie because his build-up is great.

“Their centre-backs enjoy playing, establishing and controlling ball possession while attempting to form effective combinations on the field.

“Luke Shaw is really dangerous, and Diogo Dalot is in a good spot. Casemiro is a vital player for them; they have excellent wingers and attackers, which is my concern.

“The most important thing for me, individually and collectively, as a coach is to prepare trying to stop them.”

Manchester United in good form ahead of trip to stumbling Aston Villa

Manchester United will fancy their chances against Aston Villa, who have suffered in recent weeks.

Villa’s 5-0 triumph over relegation-threatened Sheffield United last weekend marked the club’s second Premier League victory since Christmas.

The Villans were also knocked from the FA Cup in a fourth-round replay against Chelsea in midweek, which was considered as an unexpected result.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is seeking for their fourth consecutive win in all competitions for the first time this season, and the club has yet to lose in 2024.
