Rangers fans want Scott Brown to squirm at Ibrox with Ayr United in pundit prediction

Rangers fans want Scott Brown to squirm at Ibrox with Ayr United in pundit prediction.

Rangers fans will want their club to “hammer” Ayr United at Ibrox merely to see Scott Brown “squirm” on the sideline, according to Tam McManus.

On PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show on February 9, the former Hibs striker predicts a “long afternoon” for the long-time Celtic captain as his Ayr United squad faces the Light Blues in the Scottish Cup.

Brown, 38, will face Rangers for the first time as a manager since his retirement in the fifth round on Saturday.

Peter Martin asked (34m 35s): “If ever a Rangers fan is going to that game hoping that they absolutely leather Ayr United it’s that game isn’t it?”

McManus replied: “Yes, it is. Obviously, given Scott’s lengthy association with Celtic, Rangers fans will be looking forward to

seeing him on the pitch, and they’ll want Rangers to thrash Ayr United only to see him squirm on the touchline.

“I know Browny is a confident character, but I don’t think many people give Ayr United a fair opportunity.

Rangers are been churning out wins and performing well. Ayr United have a decent team on paper, but I believe Scott and his players will be in for a difficult afternoon.

Rangers set to renew acquaintances with old Celtic foe Brown at Ibrox

Brown’s presence will add something extra, but Philippe Clement will be asking that his team protect against any mistakes on a

day when they are expected to win easily.

On current form, they should do so, but if they enter the game expecting to win, the visitors will undoubtedly be seeking to

upset their management.

However, if Rangers score a couple of goals early on and appear to be in control in the second half, the Ibrox crowd will

undoubtedly hope they don’t give up for show.

The Light Blues have already won the League Cup this season and are presently leading the cup and title race.

Maintaining momentum is crucial.

Rangers won a thrilling SPFL match against Aberdeen, bringing them level with Celtic at the top of the league.

However, they must avoid a downturn in their next game, which is a simple cup tie.
