Well, the 30-year-old admitted to turning down an offer from Manchester United last summer in favour of joining Rangers.

It was even said that Manchester United were willing to double the Bristolian’s wages.

Butland was quoted by Football Scotland as saying: “It wasn’t difficult. Manchester United was a great opportunity to join a club I supported as a kid and learn from the best but you quickly get to a point where you realise just how much you miss playing yourself and how much you miss the winning feeling.”

Now – after taking the bold decision to reject Manchester United for Rangers – the glovesman could be in line to make his first appearance for England since 2018.

he Daily Mail quote Southgate as saying: “It is an issue for us and the situation is up in the air.

“We must ensure that we are watching everyone. Jack is featured since he plays for a prominent team and has experience as a goalie. Aaron isn’t playing, Sam isn’t playing right now, and Nick is injured. We’ll have to see how that works out.”

Butland, who has nine matches for England, has been outstanding for Rangers this season, maintaining 19 clean sheets in 38 outings and conceding only 29 goals.

It’s a shame Butland turned down the Red Devils since he would have given tough competition for Andre Onana this season, maybe motivating the Cameroon international to play better.
