Jose Cifuentes status at Rangers reassessed as Cruzeiro boss already wants star for keeps.
The Ecuadorian midfielder left Rangers this week on loan to Cruzeiro.
Cruzeiro manager Nicolas Larcamon believes Jose Cifuentes, a Rangers flop, will not return to Ibrox as he is confident in his
ability to convince the Brazilian club to extend his loan agreement.
The Ecuadorian midfielder joined the Belo Horizonte club, owned and sponsored by Brazilian legend Ronaldo, on loan from
Rangers this week. His tenure in Glasgow was a disappointment, with only six league starts, and he failed to live up to the hoopla
surrounding his summer move from the MLS.
Cifuentes received a red card during his last Scottish Premiership outing against Dundee in December. Cruzeiro’s loan
arrangement for the player includes a buy option, which Larcamon believes will be exercised. He stated: “The transaction is
finalized. We have the option of purchasing Jose Cifuentes at the end of his loan, and I am confident that will happen.
He is a very complete player who will contribute significantly to the club.
“Jose has numerous strengths in his game. He is very comfortable on the ball and will also offer aggression to the team.
He will greatly benefit our midfield. He will be a valuable addition to the squad, and we aim to get him on board as soon as possible.”
Cifuentes might make his debut for his new team this week in a derby against Belo Horizonte rivals America MG.
